This imaginative monologue with life breathed in by Will Smith transforms this already attention grabbing simplicity and wanders off into the minds of those pondering art. This great speach resonates with a need for a more creative, a more enriched imagination. As our society is continuously seeking new ways to make oneself feel better with medical procedures, cosmetic surgery - a self identification of realizing one’s place in a society changing and defined by just those who are not sure who they are. It is a collective consciousness, “it wouldn’t be so bad if you could both be blindfolded.” But this piece turns the mirror away from the rest of the world and directly into the eyes of the person, the ordinary person behind political leaning, social status, wealth, desires or fears, but towards the heart of the matter, as it is put in the film, “matching up what’s in here with what’s out there.” What is in the what is a relationship between the creations of the mind and the creations of others. It is an echo-less hallway that leaves one on the side of the light, left only to look away from the darkness. I shoot people in this hat. Chaos. Control. Chaos. Control.

In honor of Pangea Day on May 10, 2008 we would like to share with our readerfans, a few short films - presented as a Film Frenzy with a short film everyday until May 10, 2008 [we hope] - that are sure to pull your socks up! (We don’t like the other cliche, something about cold feet). In 2006, filmmaker Jehane Noujaim won the TED Prize, an annual award granted at the TED Conference. She was granted $100,000, and more important, a wish to change the world. Her wish was to create a day in which the world came together through film. Pangea Day grew out of that wish. Bite of the Day: Street Kings w/ trailer

The trailor starts with the voice of Lupe Fiasco declaring, “I am the American Dream.” Then comes into view the LA tattooed on The Game’s face. We’re already interested, and it’s called Street Kings? Yes.

But will this movie deliver? Well, Keanu has talking parts and although that worries us, from the looks of it he’s got sound bites when the music and the noise of the movie pause, and he just comes in with that whoa-inspiring voice.

We’ll have to wait and see if this will be a training day for Street Kings or if they’re ready to sit atop Hollywood royalty and the box office. And don’t worry, we’ll be talking about this film again when the soundtrack comes out.

Starring Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Common, Hugh Laurie, The Game, and Chris Evans.
